Beginner Navigation Course 2
The aim for this one day workshop is to be able to plan a route accurately, estimate how long it will take and measure distance as well as develop an understanding of how the terrain affects planning. Being able to plan a route accurately is a very important skill—otherwise, you will have grumpy friends or family members (think, 'Are we there yet?' kind of questions). We will also start to look at contours more in-depth.
What we will cover
Understanding contours and how undulating terrain has an effect on timings
Basic navigational Errors and how to relocate yourself
The use of catching features and handrails
We will start the day by creating a route card and use it on our walk where you will have an opportunity to see how accurately you can devise a plan and what to anticipate from the terrain.
You can choose from either a private booking or to book a space on our open group events. For group event, we need a minimum booking of 2 people for the event to proceed. In the event that no other participants join, you will be given the option to either receive a full refund or to reschedule for an alternative date.
We have a low instructor to participant ratio (1:4) on our open courses. This is to ensure that we are providing really good quality teaching session and we are able to tailor the day to everyone’s experience and goals.
