Intermediate Navigation Course

This course focuses on a comprehensive use of your compass including learning how to take and follow a bearing accurately and find small features. We will also look at pacing and how steep ground affects timing. This is where we will go into the depth of understanding contours and develop the skill to be able to use them as a great tool during navigation in poor visibility.

What we will cover

  • More comprehensive use of compasses including how to take and follow a bearing accurately and finding smaller features

  • Pacing and how steep ground affects timing

  • Understanding contours and navigating just by the change of angle in the landscape

  • Poor weather visibility tactics

  • You can choose from either a private booking or to book a space on our open group event. For group event, we need a minimum booking of 2 people for the event to proceed. In the event that no other participants join, you will be given the option to either receive a full refund or to reschedule for an alternative date.

  • We have a low instructor to participant ratio (1:6) on our open courses. This is to ensure that we are providing really good quality teaching session and we are able to tailor the day to everyone’s experience and goals.
