Peak District Intermediate Rock Climbing Course
Everyone comes on our rock climbing courses with different experience and goals so we will always tailor the day to you. The following list is just a guide, if you have any specific requests please let us know and we will incorporate it into the day.
You will learn to tie in and belay using different belay devices (if you are not already familiar with these skills)
You will be introduced to outdoor climbing on some of the best routes in the Peak District
You will get tips on technique like smearing, mantling, we will show you how to move efficiently on the rock and you will be introduced to one of the most fundamental aspects of climbing on gritstone – jamming!
If your end goal is to work towards lead climbing trad or sport you will learn new skills that will be enable you to progress in that direction such as how to abseil by yourself with a prusik backup
This course gives a really good fundamentals for Learn to Lead Trad Climbing Course or Learn to Lead Sport Climbing Course
Our Full Day courses often have an element of bouldering in them depending on location
We have locations available close to Hathersage, Bakewell, Stoney Middleton, Ladybower Reservoir and Matlock. You can find some of our favourite locations below
This is a private group session. The cost includes up to 3 people. The cost for each additional person is £55 for Half Day and £80 for Full Day bookings. We allow bookings for the next day up until 5 pm. If your booking is for over 8 people, please book at least 48 hours advance. If you would like to book within 48 hours please give us a ring first.

Which course is right for me?

Half Day is good option if you would like to work on a specific skill or have a bit of an introduction to outdoor climbing.

We recommend full day if you want to focus on getting more in depth knowledge on rope work and climbing technique. We can often combine the day with some bouldering. Let us know if you would like to do this and we can choose the venue accordingly.

Climbing in the Peak District is world class and climbers from all over the world travel to the area to try climbing on gritstone.
Gritstone climbing requires good technical ability and you need skills like smearing, mantling, jamming, bridging and balance for climbing arêtes.
